What is this site? I’m working that out as I go along. Broadly-speaking, it’s an occasional journal of one man’s interactions with the natural world.

Why is this site named “Secondary Succession” ? The term is used in ecology to explain:

the process of ecological community recovery that occurs after a disturbance destroys an existing ecosystem but leaves the soil intact

Which, without giving away too much, seems an apt metaphor for this stage of my life.
